RPM (Remote Print Manager)

RPM Remote Print Manager (RPM) is a comprehensive, PC-based, TCP/IP print server software for Windows platforms.

RPM allows users to customize and control processing of print jobs received on a TCP/IP network, from hosts such as mainframes, AS/400's, UNIX and Linux systems.
RPM provides text editing and formatting capabilities generally only found in publishing environments; and allows users to suspend queues, hold print jobs, specify page ranges, etc.

RPM 2.4
for Windows 9x/Me

Features

Flexible print queue setup
  • Allows unlimited print queue definitions to accommodate both routine and special printing needs.
  • All data can be extensively customized before printing. Transmit raw or formatted text to any Windows printer.
  • Three print queue types are available: TEXT, RAW and FILTER.

Text queue
unique text handling options for formatting print jobs; specifying lines per inch, characters per inch, choose any font used on the selected printer, and complete printer setup.

Filter queue
pass print data to another program or write it to disk for archiving or other purposes.

“Auto Create Queue”
function provides faster network configuration. RPM automatically creates a print queue once a job is received, reducing the time network administrators spend searching for misnamed queues.

Sort-able job log
allows the user to sort on message severity, queue or job, date/time, and text message. This enables technical staff and users to effectively troubleshoot and identify exactly what is happening with their print jobs.

Output options
include duplicate filename handling, filenames using job data such as date/time, user and title, plus options identified by key third-party integrators.

Extensive customization tools
RPM translates EBCDIC data and converts SCS to ASCII. In text mode, RPM preserves the SCS formatting instructions, such as font changes and character positioning.

Internationalization
RPM supports both single and double byte characters for international processing. RPM allows the user to use any language supported on their system, such as Chinese, Japanese, and Eastern European. RPM also helps the user select the correct fonts for the character set used.

Page processing
enhancements extend the users ability to fit text output to a page and select the most readable font. RPM also handles a greater variety of host data formats, enabling end users to print without custom conversions.
